Southgate Leisure
The aim of the development at Southgate Leisure Centre was to create an extension to the existing leisure complex within strict budgetary and programme constraints. The creation of a new café, enhanced 33m pool with new car parking facilities would combine to make this an even more valued leisure and social venue within Southgate.

Once Liz Lake Associates was commissioned, the primary objective was to create a scheme which enhanced the external environment whist creating new pedestrian links to the new access area. A full arboricultural survey was undertaken and a sketch scheme drawn up which mitigated trees to be removed and created a masterplan which also enhanced wildlife.
After the landscape design leisure scheme was approved by the architect and council, it was tendered and implemented in 2012. Now open to the public, it has been critically acclaimed as meeting environmental guidelines and catering for a wide variety of leisure activities. The planting has started to establish and we hope the scheme will act as a catalyst for leisure activities in the area.
