Little Plumstead

Liz Lake Associates, together with lead designers Fielden and Mawson, were commissioned to develop proposals for The Diocese of Norwich to create a new primary school. As part of the Section 106 agreement, this new school was to act as a catalyst for education in the local area.

The landscape design developed by Liz Lake Associates has capitalised on the unique setting of the school backing onto mature pine/birch woodland and created a sustainable design concept which encourages natural play whilst enhancing the ecological value of the site. The site was re-graded following an extensive cut-and-fill exercise. Utilising the existing landform, new pitches were incorporated within the overall masterplan ensuring all ages could play a multitude of sporting activities. This was further enhanced by the creation of an all-weather play and sports pitch.

Following submission of the proposals by Liz Lake Associates and designers Fielden and Mawson, the project received planning permission. Since construction, the school design has won local awards for its sensitivity and innovation.
