Lincoln Science and Innovation Park

Lincoln

Science and Innovation

Working closely with the Lincoln Science and Innovation Park Ltd, Liz Lake Associates produced a masterplan for phase 2 of this new science and innovation quarter within the city of Lincoln. This has been submitted to the City of Lincoln Council for outline planning permission.

Lincoln Science and Innovation Park (LSIP) is a partnership between Lincolnshire Co-op and the University of Lincoln and was established in 2012. It is tasked with reinvigorating this site as an engine of industry driven by science, technology and innovation and has already seen the creation of academic research laboratories, and other smaller high-tech businesses. Phase 1 comprises the Think Tank, Joseph Banks Laboratory and the Boole Technology Centre and was completed in spring 2017.

Phase two will compliment what already exists while bringing in larger firms with a focus on agricultural – advanced engineering and digital technologies. It comprises a range of buildings arranged around a series of communal spaces which are designed to encourage spontaneous collaboration and the serendipitous sharing of ideas. A wide, tree lined pedestrian boulevard provides a strong connection between phase 2 and phase 1. Sustainable surface water drainage has been integrated into the scheme so that it provides an attractive, habitat rich feature as well as providing its drainage function. Groves of trees, native hedgerows, green roofs and nectar rich planting enhance biodiversity and connect into the green infrastructure of the city.
