Hockley Wood
Liz Lake Associates was commissioned by Rochford Council to provide a holistic landscape design overview of several sites under council ownership. One of these sites was the 130-acre Hockley Woods; an initial appraisal with the parks officer enabled Liz Lake Associates to provide a plan which matched the client’s needs and vision for the next 10-20 years.
By applying a clear landscape design philosophy using natural materials and permeable surfacing, Liz Lake Associates developed a sustainable scheme for Hockley Woods. We ensured that the scheme was contextually appropriate and within budgetary constraints, whilst relieving pressure on surrounding woodland and wildlife.
The landscape design scheme devised by Liz Lake Associates was implemented for Hockley Woods and has drawn local and national interest on how schemes of this nature can be created to provide a high-quality leisure environment while having minimal environmental impact on the local environment. All existing trees were conserved and incorporated into the design with new signage and fencing. The site now provides a secure and well-planned layout, assisting visitors who arrive at the site and wish to use the local amenities and explore the surrounding woodlands.
