Edison Place
Liz Lake Associates was commissioned by St. Modwen Homes as the Landscape Architect for this multiple phased development to the North of Rugby City Centre. The development consists of over 600 new homes including several pocket parks providing play facilities for differing age groups. There are also grass area for open play and features designed to incorporate sustainable urban drainage, such as a landscaped pond, and ecological areas of wildflowers and native trees. Buffer planting was used for provide semi-private transitional spaces between road frontages and property thresholds, and gable end walls or blank façades were softened through planting design. Detailed drainage design was also coordinated thoroughly to enable avenue planting along the primary streets with large species feature trees at key nodes and junctions.

Working closely with the Architects, Engineers and Planning Consultants, the design concepts developed to accommodate the site setting and the aspirations of the Local Planning Authority in combination with the needs of the Client. The landscape proposals were tailored to consider the specific ground conditions and ecological requirements whilst also considering the wider landscape context and surrounding developments. The wider area is also undergoing great levels of development; therefore sensitive consideration was required throughout the landscape proposals and through the phasing of the works with regards to existing properties and open spaces and commercial activities.
