Du Cane Court
Liz Lake Associates are currently working on the redesign and restoration of the courtyards at Du Cane Court, Balham. Originally built in the 1930’s this iconic building was the largest flat development in Europe with 676 apartments. The iconic Art Deco style building is undergoing a major refurbishment programme and integral to this is the outdoor amenity spaces which will be redeveloped to improve the setting and outlook for residents and visitors.
Initially sketch designs were prepared, then followed by a Landscape Masterplan. This was then presented to the residents of Du Cane Court, who commented and approved the overall strategy. Liz Lake Associates were then tasked with developing the design of the first courtyard space, providing a bold entrance to the historic building. The design was required to respect the past Japanese styled scheme and incorporate the existing fishpond and Japanese lantern features.
We are currently working on developing the scheme for tender and construction purposes.
