Chigwell Grange
Liz Lake Associates worked with award winning developer London Square and Clarke Renner Architects on a bespoke residential scheme for 43 high quality residential units along with associated Public Open Space. The scheme has been designed to enable views to the local countryside and encapsulates semi-mature trees lined boulevards and mature hedges.

The landscape strategy underpins an approach that enhances the quality of the semi-rural character and the opportunities afforded to the local community. The landscape design is a fundamental part of the development and centres on an approach of retaining the existing landscape structure which includes historic mature trees to create an established and contextually appropriate design. The proposals are integrated within the wider landscape, for example by softening and connecting the edges of the development. A green corridor was designed in the centre of the scheme and encapsulates a high quality pocket park, this new village green will be framed with new landscape planting of local provenance. The site’s landscape has been shaped by the concept of a ‘Village Green’ which provides the proposals with a strong sense of local identity. A high quality hard landscape strategy was developed to budget and incorporates predominantly free draining (permeable) hard surfacing where possible to reduce surface water run-off. Working closely with the engineers and architects surface water attenuation features within the green open spaces were developed to hold water and reduce flash flooding during periods of high rainfall.
