B/E Aerospace
This prominent site for B/E Aerospace is located at the existing manufacturing plant in Grovebury Road, Leighton Buzzard. The company wished to extend its plant headquarters with associated new parking and landscape improvements whilst having to satisfy a restrictive set of planning conditions.
Working closely with Central Bedfordshire Council, Liz Lake Associates organised relevant survey information including a Phase 1 habitat survey, arboricultural report and detailed topographical survey. Once complete we helped create a holistic landscape masterplan encompassing the client requirements for expansion whilst satisfying several planning conditions. Liz Lake Associates also worked in close association with Central Bedfordshire Wildlife Trust as the scheme was within an important ‘green-area’ with associated wildlife habitats.
The final scheme developed by Liz Lake Associates helped appease council concerns and encompassed a predominantly native planting regime. This not only helped screen the new development but also greatly encouraged wildlife by creating habitats for insects, birds and mammals. Liaising with Central Bedfordshire Council’s ecologist, the scheme was developed and encompassed a large area of land close to and along the Grand Union Canal, resulting in a highly visual scheme for motorists, pedestrians and boat-users. The scheme was granted planning permission in 2012 and all landscape-related conditions were satisfied to a tight client programme.
