As chartered landscape architects, we often work with large multi-disciplinary design teams composed of architects, planners, quantity surveyors and engineers in our leisure projects. The schemes can involve numerous important areas of public open space, major proposals for new and improved hotel and conference facilities, alongside new and existing golf courses in London, the East of England, the South West and the Midlands. We also act as project manager for less complex proposals. When approaching hotel projects, for example, we believe that the design of garden and external spaces is as important as the hotel interior in creating an enjoyable experience for visitors. Views from both private rooms and public areas should be of the highest quality and there should be opportunities for relaxing in well-designed outdoor spaces and gardens. This belief transfers across all our leisure projects and is fundamental to our design ethos. At Liz Lake Associates, we also believe that the back-of-house landscape needs to function practically without disturbing guests and that all landscape areas should be capable of being maintained discretely and safely.
