Brief
Founded in 1924 and featured in the 'Top 100 Golf Courses of England', Tandridge is a parkland course with some heathland characteristics and is regarded as an excellent test of golf; it was designed in 1924 by Harry Colt, one of the foremost golf course architects of his day. Play is enhanced by attractive woodlands and superb views of the nearby North Downs and of the Kent and Sussex countryside in the distance. Liz Lake Associates was approached by the client to create sketch scheme proposals for the site entrance.
Approach
The existing approach was not only a vehicular hazard, it also lacked presence and meaning. Liz Lake Associates delivered proposals which utilised the existing site topography to create a unique "unpretentious setting" for what is regarded as one of the leading country golf courses in the South East.
Outcome
The design proposals are under consideration by the club.
