Cambridgeshire Gardens Trust topic for this year’s study day and outings was Trees. They held their annual study day on 17th March and had speakers on orchards, tree diseases, trees in historic landscape design and ancient trees. In the course of this year they hope to start some research on trees in Cambridgeshire. To help with education on tree identification Liz Lake Associates sponsored the production of a pocket guide which was handed out on the study day. The pocket guide is designed with a tag in the top left corner which can be undone to allow you to create your own cards to add to the collection.
You can find a downloadable version of the pocket guide here.

A medieval monster themed playground is set to be installed in a Park.
Jack Hynd, Nathan Russell and Jack Lanney, who are all year 5 pupils at St Anne Line Junior School, in Basildon, won a competition to design the play area for Gloucester Park, in Basildon.
Developer Barratt Wilson Bowden is funding installation of the medieval monster-themed play equipment, as a gesture of thanks to Basildon Council for granting it planning permission to build 375 new homes on the site of the former Gloucester Park Swimming Pool, off Broadmayne.
David Eardley, managing director for Barratt Homes said: "The ideas coming from the children have been fantastic very creative and they all looked like they'd be fun".
Matt Lee and Liz Townsend (SMP Playgrounds) are now planning the new play area following the children's suggestions.
