Bridge End Garden

Bridge End Garden

Built in the 1840s, Bridge End Garden had become overgrown, decayed and fallen victim to vandalism, problems compounded by inadequate resources and funding. When Uttlesford District Council and English heritage planned to restore the garden and address the problems they invited LiZLaKe to help. A historic landscape survey and costed conservation management plan helped secure funding for the project that proceeded with extensive involvement from the community as a whole. Sources of conflict in the community, such as vandalism, have largely evaporated since the garden was restored and re-opened to the public. The project has subsequently been commended in the Community Benefit Award section of the RICS Awards 2007.
