Brief

For this prestigious project our client, Laing Homes, wanted an extra special focal point. Liz Lake Associates prepared sketch proposals for the hard and soft elements of the communal open space within a residential development in an urban setting. The design concept created an intimate, enclosed space with a cascading water feature located in the centre of a courtyard.

Approach

The design is particularly striking when viewed from the first floors of the surrounding properties. Parking in the courtyard is not visible from within the ‘pocket park'.

Outcome

The hard landscape works, including the water feature, are now complete and the planting design, including mature fastigiate yew and hedging, for the whole development was implemented during the autumn of 2003.
