Founded in 1924 and featured in "Top 100 Golf Courses of England", The parkland course, with some heathland characteristics, is regarded as an excellent test of golf, and was designed by Harry Colt, one of the foremost architects of his day. Play is enhanced by attractive woodlands and superb views of the nearby North Downs and of the Kent and Sussex countryside in the distance. LZL were approached by the client to create sketch scheme proposals for the site entrance. The existing approach was not only a vehicular hazard it also lacked presence and meaning, LZL created proposals which utilised the existing site topography to create a unique ‘unpretentious setting' for what is regarded as one of the leading country golf courses in the south-east.
